Petan was traded to the Rangers from Minnesota in exchange for Turner Elson on Friday.
Petan had a pair of assists in six games with the Wild this season. He has spent the majority of his time with AHL Iowa, tallying 12 goals and adding 28 assists in 44 games. He will provide forward depth for the Rangers while playing at AHL Hartford.
