Hirose was sent back to AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
Hirose made his season debut against the Penguins on Tuesday in which he notched one shot, one hit and one block in 7:57 of ice time. If Alex Chiasson (undisclosed) is unable to play against the Hurricanes on Thursday, the 26-year-old Hirose could be called back up prior to puck drop.
