Davies was recalled from AHL Rochester on Monday.
Buffalo wanted an extra defenseman on the roster because of injuries to Ilya Lyubushkin (lower body), Mattias Samuelsson (lower body) and Henri Jokiharju (face). Davies hasn't posted a point in seven games at the minor-league level this year. He is not expected to play Monday against Detroit.
