Bernier was released from his professional tryout Thursday by the Islanders, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Bernier made a mere 24 appearances for New York last season, garnering only one goal and five helpers. The 31-year-old also failed to register a single point during the postseason. Even if he can secure a new home, the winger is unlikely to offer much fantasy value.
