One of the most famous shots in non-major golf history -- maybe the most famous -- was stroked by Tiger Woods at the 1997 Phoenix Open.

Woods made a "1" on No. 16 to the sheer delight of thousands of golf patrons who proceeded to shower him with beers. It was one of the few he's made in his career, actually.

As Jason Sobel of Golf Channel pointed out, Woods has a .065 percent success rate on the PGA Tour in converting holes-in-one on par 3s.

You've all likely seen it, but if not, here it is with Woods giving some play-by-play.

A current PGA Tour golfer, Robert Garrigus, was in the crowd that day as a college student and fan.

"I might have been the first guy to throw a beer, I don't know," said Garrigus on PGATour.com. "But it started raining, big time, and everybody in the Thunderbirds was like, 'No, no,' and they're getting pelted with beers. It was unbelievable.

"If I didn’t want to be a professional golfer right there, I wasn’t going to be one. That was pretty cool. And I got to see it."

Lee Janzen was also there, but he was playing. He said he knew immediately what had happened. Everyone did.

"There was no question that Tiger had just made a 1 on 16," said Janzen to PGATour.com. "Of all the years, of all the holes, of all the days. It had to be Saturday. That’s always the biggest crowd. And of all the people, it had to be him."

Of course.
