World Cup Arena Activity Surpasses Peak Olympic Winter Games Traffic

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (June 17, 1998) -- Soccer fans worldwide have discovered a great new way to follow the World Cup. SportsLine USA, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLN), publisher of CBS SportsLine (cbs.sportsline.com), announced that during the first week of the much-anticipated World Cup, the Company's Web service generated approximately 45 million page views, of which approximately 17 million were registered in its World Cup soccer area.

The World Cup site, which offers content in six different languages, features player, coach, team, and country information for every squad, breaking news, exclusive stories and columns, live scoreboards of all games in progress, games and contests and results and stories of every qualifying match. In addition, also available at the click of a mouse are printable brackets, audio interviews, chats and polls, a special area for kids, complete World Cup history, and thousands of photographs. Soccer Live, which lets fans follow every key play in a multimedia graphical environment, and 3D Soccer World, a unique 3D online experience, are two innovative features of the site.

As previously announced, these sponsors include Hewlett-Packard, EA SPORTS, EDS, Expedia, Palm Top and Sprint. Reebok International, Ltd., Sybase, France Telecom and Anheuser-Busch have recently signed on as major sponsors of CBS SportsLine's World Cup coverage.

CBS SportsLine's innovative Soccer Live feature depicts World Cup action with Shockwave (TM)-based animation. Every key play, including goals, shots, shots on target, fouls, corner kicks, free kicks, penalty kicks, offsides, cautions, ejections, and substitutions, is shown graphically as well as described in a text line.
