The visiting Cubs will be spared from mighty Bryce Harper on Friday night, as the Nationals' hard-hitting outfielder is out of the lineup after undergoing minor surgery on an ingrown toenail. As Amanda Comak of the Washington Times tweets, Harper is hoping the procedure will cause him to miss only one game.

And, given that this is 2013 and Twitter must be even further involved, Harper wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to see the evidence:

This season, the 20-year-old star is batting .302/.383/.629 with 10 homers in 116 at-bats. He's coming off a 2012 season in which he was named NL Rookie of the Year.

For Friday night's game, the Nats will start an outfield of Denard Span, Tyler Moore and Roger Bernadina.
