The Tigers annouced Friday that they have promoted outfielder Avisail Garca to Detroit, designating Jeff Baker for assignment in a corresponding move.
Garcia has hit .299/.333/.455 in 513 plate appearances between Class-A Advanced and Double-A this season, including hitting .312/.345/.465 in 226 plate appearances at Double-A. The 21-year-old is not expected to receive much playing time with the Tigers.
Baker has hit .254/.293/.408 in 181 plate appearances between the Tigers and the Cubs this year.
In addition, the team also announced that reliever Al Alburquerque will be recalled Saturday. Alburquerqe hasn't pitched with the Tigers at all this season while recovering from surgery to his pitching elbow.
