Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully -- known in proper circles as the Luminous Mr. Scully -- is of course in his final season in the booth. This is cause for sadness and regret, yes, but it's also cause to appreciate the decades of excellence he's given us.

To that end, MLB Network before Monday night's Diamondbacks-Dodgers game (box score) aired the following Vin Scully tribute video. As you'll see, some familiar faces are involved ...

Very nicely done.

Scully's 67-year tenure as Dodgers broadcaster -- a tenure that date's back to the franchise's days in Brooklyn -- will end with their game against the Giants on Oct. 2. As the New York Times recently noted, though, if the Dodgers make the postseason, then it's possible Scully will call that game or those games on local radio.

Whatever the case, let's take every opportunity to celebrate this 88-year-old baseball treasure.
