The Mets came into Thursday having lost four straight games, so they continue to slide further behind the first place Nationals in the NL East. Needless say, this has been a rough week for the Amazin's.

On Thursday, Yoenis Cespedes gave the Mets faithful something to cheer about. He clobbered a home run into the third deck at Citi Field. John Lackey served it up. To the action footage:

Cespedes is the first player to hit a ball into the third deck during an actual game, according to the SNY broadcast. Several players have reached the third deck during batting practice, and a bunch did it during the 2013 Home Run Derby as well.

Here's the Statcast information on Cespedes' blast:

Yeah, Statcast may be underselling that one. The fancy schmancy computers are telling us all these 500-foot blasts are really 441 feet. Lame!

That titanic blast by Cespedes is a good sign for the Mets, who need their star slugger to get hot and help them reverse this recent losing streak.
