DeLuzio was released by the Orioles on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. DeLuzio, 28, has batted just .189/.278/.291 at the Triple-A level this season. He got into 22 games with the Cardinals in 2023 in his first and only action at the major-league level, producing a .492 OPS.... See More ... See Less

Orioles' Ben DeLuzio: Latches on with Baltimore
DeLuzio signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Tuesday, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports. DeLuzio's .544 OPS in Triple-A caused the Dodgers to release him last week, but he's now joined the Orioles' farm system. The 28-year-old outfielder has major-league experience but doesn't seem likely to get back to the bigs at his current pace.... See More ... See Less -
Ben DeLuzio: Cut loose by Dodgers
The Dodgers released DeLuzio on Tuesday. DeLuzio was a roster casualty after the Dodgers promoted two of their top outfield prospects, Jonny DeLuca and Andy Pages, from Double-A Tulsa to Triple-A on Tuesday. After attending Dodgers camp as a non-roster invitee and failing to win a spot on the Opening Day roster, DeLuzio posted a .544 OPS while striking out in 31.1 percent of his plate appearances at Triple-A. The 28-year-old previously reached the big leagues with the Cardinals in 2022, appearing in 22 games.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Ben DeLuzio: Inks minors contract with LAD
DeLuzio signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Dodgers, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. DeLuzio spent all of spring training with the Cubs, but they granted him his release Thursday morning. And the 28-year-old speedster has now found a new home. He'll report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Ben DeLuzio: Reassigned to minor-league camp
DeLuzio was reassigned Thursday to the minor-league side of Cubs camp, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports. DeLuzio has incredible raw speed, but he batted just .150/.292/.200 over his first 25 major-league plate appearances last season with the Cardinals. He was 2-for-8 this spring in Cactus League play and will serve as organizational outfield depth for Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Ben DeLuzio: Could nab reserve role
DeLuzio could earn an Opening Day bench spot with the Cubs, possibly as a right-handed alternative to Cody Bellinger in center field, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. With Seiya Suzuki (oblique) potentially set to miss the beginning of the regular season, the Cubs may need an extra outfield option. DeLuzio, who appeared in 22 games with St. Louis last year and recorded a .492 OPS, has a chance to grab a spot. However, he likely won't be on the fantasy radar as more of a defense-first player with limited offensive ability.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Ben DeLuzio: Gets NRI deal
DeLuzio signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Tuesday, which includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. DeLuzio had a brief turn in the majors in 2022 with the Cardinals, going 3-for-20 at the plate. He's known for his speed and center-field defense, skills which he'll try to utilize as he competes for a reserve role.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Ben DeLuzio: Officially joins big-league club
DeLuzio's contract was selected from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday. DeLuzio was selected by the Cardinals in the minor-league portion of the 2021 Rule 5 draft and is in line to make his major-league debut once he enters a game for St. Louis. He performed well for the Triple-A club this year, posting a .782 OPS with nine homers, 60 runs, 49 RBI and 30 stolen bases. The 28-year-old should provide outfield depth for the Cardinals, and it's possible the team will use him as a pinch runner late in games given the speed that he's showcased in the minors.... Cardinals' Ben DeLuzio: Getting call to big leagues
The Cardinals plan to select DeLuzio's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. The 28-year-old DeLuzio, whom the Cardinals selected in the minor-league portion of the 2021 Rule 5 draft last December, will reach the majors for the first time since entering the professional ranks in 2016. Over 94 games with Memphis this season, DeLuzio slashed .277/.353/.429 with nine home runs and a 30-for-36 success rate on stolen-base attempts. He'll likely serve as outfield depth in September for St. Louis, with most of DeLuzio's work likely to come in center field when either of Tyler O'Neill or Dylan Carlson are sitting out.... Patrick Mooney@PJ_Mooney1D agoWhat’s up with the Cubs’ defense? Depends on who you ask. Maybe it’s nothing, as Craig Counsell suggested. Or maybe it’s not such a strength of this team. A winning record hasn’t covered over this: “No question we’ve been uncharacteristically sloppy.” ⬇️ https://t.co/JXvj1zJQ27
