Logos on NBA jerseys were inevitable, which is why it wasn't too surprising that the league Board of Governors approved jersey sponsors back in April. Logos will appear on jerseys at the start of the 2017-2018 season. The sponsorship logos will be a small 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches patch that will be displayed on the left shoulder of the jersey.

On Monday, we got a first look at how these logo patches would look as the Philadelphia 76ers became the first team to land a jersey sponsorship. Stubhub, the online ticket re-seller, will be sponsoring the Sixers and their logo will appear on all of the team's uniforms right at the start of the 2017-2018 season.

Since Stubhub's colors are basically the same as the Sixers, the logo patch is almost seamlessly part of the jersey. It is rather a simple look, though, and that may not be a bad thing. We really don't need anything loud or flamboyant to distract from the overall aesthetic of the jersey. It is a bit unfamiliar to see an ad on an NBA jersey, but we better get used to it. This is just part of the future of the league.
