After a three-game night on Tuesday, the NBA schedule picked up in a major way on Wednesday night. Early on, we saw the Trae Young-led Atlanta Hawks overcome a 26-point deficit to defeat the Dallas Mavericks, 111-104. The Cleveland Cavaliers also remained winless at 0-4 as they fell to the Brooklyn Nets 102-86.
Kawhi Leonard exploded for 35 points as he led the Toronto Raptors to a resounding 112-105 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves while the Miami Heat blew out the New York Knicks 110-87, led by Hassan Whiteside's 22-point, 14-board night.
The Utah Jazz outlasted the Houston Rockets, beating them in convincing fashion by a score of 100-89. Donovan Mitchell scored 20 first-half points, on his way to a 38-point, seven-assist performance for the night.
Meanwhile, LeBron James and Lance Stephenson led the Los Angeles Lakers to their first win of the season with a 131-113 blowout win over the Phoenix Suns. LeBron posted 19 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds while Lance Stephenson led the way with 23 points, eight boards and eight assists.
And to top it all off, Stephen Curry turned in a 51-point, 11-trey performance through just three quarters in a 144-122 win over the Washington Wizards. He finished the night 11-of-16 from three-point range and 15-of-24 from the field. For perspective on how impressive that is, it was his sixth performance of at least 11 three-pointers. There are only seven such performances by other NBA players in history.

LeBron and Stephenson lead Lakers to first win of season
It was a good night to be a Los Angeles Laker. After three losses to start out the 2018-19 season, the Lakers won their first game of the year with a 131-113 victory over the Phoenix Suns. LeBron James posted 19 points and 10 assists while Lance Stephenson led the way with 23 points, eight boards and eight assists. Stephenson was having so much that he showed up the Suns with this pass off the backboard to Lonzo Ball in the closing minutes of the game.

Giannis matches Wilt to start off 2018-19 season
This comparison is going to drive people crazy, but it's legit. Giannis Antetokounmpo may not be in Wilt Chamberlain's league (yet), but he's certainly in the same category when it comes to this statistic. Giannis has become the first player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964-65 to post four consecutive 25-point, 15-rebound games to start out the season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a monster that just cannot be stopped. As the Milwaukee Bucks prove their supremacy over their Eastern Conference foe, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Greek Freek just posted a triple-double after one of the craziest assist highlights you'll see all night.

LeBron sets himself up off backboard
LeBron James is just doing LeBron James things. As the Los Angeles Lakers look well on their way to their first victory of the season after a 67-point barrage in the first half versus the Phoenix Suns, the four-time MVP made sure to end the half in style by literally doing it all by himself.

Curry scores 23 points in first quarter
Stephen Curry is in the midst of one of his trademark games. The two-time NBA MVP is hitting everything as he has scored 23 points in the first quarter alone. Check out this shooting barrage as Curry goes 8-of-11 from the field and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Belinelli makes 3-pointer on alley-oop attempt
If the San Antonio Spurs want to shoot better from beyond the arc, they should probably utilize this tactic more often. As the Spurs suffered a humbling 116-96 loss to the Indiana Pacers at home, Marco Belinelli made a three-pointer while attempting to throw an alley-oop pass. It was just one of six treys made by the Spurs all night, as they converted on just 31.6 percent of their three-point attempts all night.

Kawhi scores 35 as Raptors pounce T-Wolves
Kawhi Leonard's 35 points proved to be too much for the Minnesota Timberwolves as the Toronto Raptors converted on 51.7 percent of their field goal attempts in comparison to the T-Wolves shooting 41.7 percent from the field. Kawhi scored 18 points in the first half alone as the Raptors remained undefeated at 5-0.

Hawks come back versus Mavs following Bazemore's monster scoring night
Luke Doncic outplayed Trae Young in this game, but it was the Atlanta Hawks rookie that ended up having the last laugh. The Hawks overcame a 26-point deficit and defeated the Dallas Mavericks 111-104 in an emotional game that was highlighted by Kent Bazemore's 32-point performance. You could say the Hawks won this game when Bazemore punctuated it with this slam dunk.

Kawhi steals ball without looking
Well, now we know why Kawhi Leonard has won the Defensive Player of the Year on two different occasions. Not only is he a lockdown defender, he steals passes without even looking at them, as he just did versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Doncic outscores Young 12-2 in first half
This rookie battle has been completely lopsided. The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks just completed their first half and Luka Doncic has vastly outplayed Trae Young. Not only do the Mavericks lead, Doncic has 12 points in comparison to Young's two points on 1-of-6 shooting at the half.

Doncic nails stepback 3-pointer over Bazemore
There is no doubt that the storyline of the night is the matchup between top NBA Draft picks Luka Doncic and Trae Young. Doncic, Young square off in Atlanta
It's always interesting when two top-five picks meet for the first time in their NBA careers, but the matchup on Wednesday night between Luka Doncic and Trae Young should be extra special. Not only were the two traded for each other on draft night, but they're also both off to impressive starts. Plus, considering this is the Hawks' home opener, the atmosphere should be electric in Atlanta.

Simmons back for Sixers
The Sixers missed Ben Simmons on Tuesday night, as they lost a heart-breaker in overtime to the Pistons. But the good news is that his absence will be short-lived. Simmons, who missed out against the Pistons due to a sore back, is expected to return to the lineup for their game against the Bucks. That's big for Philly, because not only is Simmons one of their best players, but also -- even early in the season -- this is a crucial matchup against an Eastern Conference foe.
