In Week 16 Cam Newton scored a touchdown and switched things up, rolling with a rocking baby celebration added to his usual end-zone repertoire. Many speculated Newton had recently become a new father and it turns out that speculation was accurate.

Newton and his girlfriend revealed Wednesday night they had a new baby boy.

And on Friday Newton, via Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer, revealed the name: Chosen Sebastian Newton.

Talk about a wild week for the likely MVP winner.

Cam's son was born on Christmas Eve, in between a highly-publicized game between the Giants and Panthers (feature a battle between Odell Beckham and Josh Norman, plus the ensuing Beckham suspension) and the Panthers' first loss of the season against the Falcons.

Newton doesn't think it's a huge difference in terms of how it affects the Panthers moving forward, however.

"I think we're [overdosing] on this whole situation. Yeah, I had a child, the people who needed to know have known for a while," Newton said. "Nothing's pretty much changed besides our record. The focus now is still the same. Find ways to become 1-0."

If anything, it could be an excuse for not being completely on point against the Falcons. There's nothing more exciting than the birth of a child, but it's not exactly a time for tons of sleep either.

Just don't expect any sympathy from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy understands what Newton's going through but doesn't plan to take it easy on Cam because of Chosen.

"I'm going to congratulate him and then tell him I've been dealing with this for years, so get used to it," McCoy said. "I have four kids, so nobody takes it easy on me."

Newton welcomed his son 'Chosen' to the world recently. (USATSI)
