The Philadelphia Eagles have signed Olympic hurdler and former University of Oregon wide receiver Devon Allen to a three-year contract on Friday. Allen hasn't played organized football since 2016 when he was a member of the Ducks. The 27-year old ended up pursuing his track and field career and put his football dreams on hold.

Allen finishedi in the top five in the 110-meter hurdles at the past two Olympic Games, finishing fifth in Rio and fourth in Tokyo in 2021. Earlier this month, Allen participated in Oregon's Pro Day and turned in an unofficial time of 4.35 in the 40-yard dash. The former Ducks wideout also visited the Eagles, which led to a three-year deal.

During his career at Oregon, Allen caught 54 passes for 919 yards and eight touchdowns in 29 games. Allen did struggle with injuries throughout his time with the Ducks and appeared in just nine total games in his final two seasons with the program.

In his sophomore season, Allen produced his best collegiate campaign to the tune of 41 receptions for 684 yards and seven touchdowns. Allen also turned in an average of 16.7 yards-per-catch as a sophomore.

Coming out of Brophy Prep (Ariz.) in high school, Allen was a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He was also a top 200 overall prospect in the 2013 class.

Allen does plan to compete at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in June and the World Athletics Championships in July before his NFL career officially begins.
