When Colin Kaepernick protested racial injustice by refusing to stand during the national anthem, a controversy ensued. Some figures around the league have blasted the 49ers quarterback while others -- including veterans -- have been supportive of Kaepernick's cause. Travelers at the Reno airport even weighed in, so no, the controversy is not expected to die down anytime soon.

As expected, some 49ers fans haven't been supportive of Kaepernick, who is expected to lose the quarterback battle to Blaine Gabbert. So, they modified their Kaepernick jerseys before the 49ers wrap up the preseason against the Chargers in San Diego.

CBS Sports NFL writer John Breech is at the game, where he discovered some former Kaepernick jerseys that are now Gabbert jerseys:

Thursday was a big day for the tape industry:

Another fan used a sharpie to write a message that Kaepernick definitely won't be able to read from the field.

Kaepernick, who said he'll continue to sit for the anthem until meaningful change occurs, has a big night ahead of him. He's expected to start under center, which gives him another chance to impress Chip Kelly and the 49ers' front office.
