Marshawn Lynch is a weird cat, man. He does things his own way. So it was pretty perfect for him to announce on Twitter he's retiring in the middle of the Super Bowl.

Lynch didn't even say anything either. He just posted a "peace out" emoji along with a picture of cleats hanging up.

That's the perfect way for a guy like Lynch to step away.

Lynch's retirement had been rumored for a while and it wouldn't surprise anyone if he did walk away because of the Seahawks depth at running back and his contract situation.

Lynch was likely to be a salary-cap casualty this offseason, is an older back and probably doesn't want to deal with finding another team.

So he's bouncing out and gonna do his Beast Mode thing.

Richard Sherman, among other players, paid homage to his friend.

Marshawn Lynch is apparently out. (USATSI)
