NFL Week 3 scores, highlights: Dolphins, Chiefs look unstoppable; Cardinals pull massive upset vs. Cowboys

The NFL season rolls on with Week 3 this weekend, and there were plenty of eye-opening results and intriguing storylines on Sunday. The high-flying Dolphins offense reached a whole new level in becoming the fourth NFL team ever (including playoffs) to score 70 points in a game. The Colts, without Anthony Richardson, upset the previously unbeaten Ravens in overtime on a historic field goal from Matt Gay. And in the biggest upset of all, the Cardinals handled the Cowboys throughout their 28-16 win.

Elsewhere, the Packers roared back from a 17-0 deficit, the Chargers narrowly avoided an 0-3 start by beating the now 0-3 Vikings, the Patriots continued to own the Jets, the Texans shocked the Jaguars and the Bills destroyed Sam Howell and the Commanders.

Below, you can find all of Sunday's best plays in our one-stop shop for everything happening in the NFL. Scores, highlights, analysis, injuries, cool stats, you name it -- we covered it all from first kickoff to the final whistle of the late games.

Undrafted TD

What an ending to this highlights story! Jake Bobo is a 25-year-old undrafted rookie whom the Seahawks took a chance on, and after a standout summer, he made the 53-man roster. Now he's got his first-career TD, and it came on an unbelievable catch to put the finishing touches on the Seahawks' 37-27 win.

UPSET CITY!

The Cowboys still had a chance to avoid a massive upset on third-and-goal with three minutes left down 12. Then Dak Prescott threw the ball right to linebacker Kyzir White in the end zone. It was Prescott's first interception of the season, and a few minutes later, it became Dallas' first loss of the year.

Cardinals cooking Cowboys defense

If you're expecting the Cardinals to just go away, it doesn't look like it's happening. Josh Dobbs and the rest of the Arizona offense continues to carve up the league's No. 1 defense, taking a 26-18 advantage midway through the fourth quarter on this touchdown catch from Marquise Brown.

Kenneth Walker III scores twice

The Seahawks running back has done it all Sunday. He's got 81 yards and two touchdowns running to go along with two catches for 51 yards. He and Jason Myers (5-for-5 on field goals) have ensured that Seattle stays ahead of the Panthers.

All too well for Travis Kelce, Chiefs

Rumors have been swirling for weeks, and Sunday seemed to confirm what everyone's been saying: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce certainly seem to be something. Not only is the pop superstar at the Chiefs game against the Bears, but she's sitting next to Kelce's mother, Donna, in a suite. And every time Kelce has made a big play, Swift could be seen cheering for the Chiefs tight end. The biggest highlight for the pair came early in the third quarter when Kelce made a short touchdown catch. Swift erupted in excitement, jumping up and down, clapping, and screaming "Let's f------ go" while the broadcast panned to her after the score.

After plenty of speculation, #TNT has officially arrived.

Longest FG of the year

Everything's gone right for the Cardinals in the first half, including Matt Prater drilling a 62-yarder -- the longest in the NFL this season -- right before halftime.

And when I say the ball barely cleared the bottom crossbar, I mean it BARELY cleared it.

The Cardinals, seen by many as the league's worst team entering the season, has now held halftime leads in all three games (vs. the Commanders, Giants and Cowboys). Those leads have evaporated in the first two games, so we'll see if the Cowboys can continue the trend.

Chiefs destroying Bears, but Patrick Mahomes limping

Anything can happen in the NFL, but sometimes, games play out as expected. That's what the first half has been between the reigning Super Bowl champs and the team with the worst record in 2022. Jerick McKinnon has paced the Chiefs with two receiving touchdowns as Andy Reid's squad holds a 34-0 halftime lead over the Bears.

However, it wasn't all good for Kansas City. Late in the first half, Patrick Mahomes was seen limping after getting his right ankle rolled up on by Yannick Ngakoue. Of course, that's the same ankle that hampered Mahomes last year during the final stages of the Chiefs' Super Bowl run.

Fortunately for the Chiefs, Mahomes was out there to start the second half, and it doesn't look like the ankle is negatively affecting him.

Cowboys strike back

Facing a 12-point deficit, the Cowboys offense went to work. Thirteen plays, 75 yards and this impressive screen-pass touchdown from Rico Dowdle. The undrafted running back from 2020 has been solid as Tony Pollard's backup so far this season.

Dalton delivers

The Panthers are back on top after Andy Dalton, filling in for the injured Bryce Young, hit D.J. Chark Jr. for the 47-yard score. Credit to Chark for making this sweet spin move to avoid the final defender between he and a house call.

The Cardinals!

It's been all Cardinals so far against the undefeated Cowboys. Make that 15-3 Arizona after wide receiver Rondale Moore lined up in the backfield, bursted through the crevice on the left side, and made linebacker Leighton Vander Esch look like he was running in slow motion on his way for a 45-yard touchdown.

Dobbs dealing vs. Cowboys

The Cowboys were supposed to have zero problems with the Cardinals. After all, they outscored their first two opponents, 70-10. But Arizona is extremely frisky, as it could easily be 2-0 instead of 0-2. Its showing that grittiness so far against Dallas, holding a 9-3 advantage after the first quarter. Quarterback Josh Dobbs is doing it all (5 of 6 passing for 42 yards and two rushes for 51 yards) while running back James Conner has found the end zone. Mike McCarthy's team officially on upset alert.

Colts win!

No Anthony Richardson, no problem for the Colts. With Gardner Minshew, Zack Moss and Michael Pittman leading the way, Indianapolis pulled out a gutsy win to hand the Ravens their first loss. Matt Gay served as the hero, as his 53-yard field goal in overtime gave Indianapolis the 22-19 win. Gay is now the first player in NFL history to kick four 50-yard FG in a game, while the 2-1 Colts are atop the AFC South.

Nearly a Hail Mary

Randall Cobb had a chance to win the game for the Jets, but he appeared to slip on the wet MetLife Stadium turf, and so the ball fell incomplete. The Patriots winning streak over the Jets continues.

Chargers hang on!

The Chargers did their best to Charger this game up, as their failed fourth-and-1 attempt gave the Vikings the ball just outside the red zone with under two minutes left. But in the end, with the Minnesota needing just a few more yards to score the game-winning touchdown, the Los Angeles defense came through. T.J. Hockenson got his hand on the pass, but it ended up popping up in the air, allowing Kenneth Murray to corral the diving game-sealing pick. The result moves the Chargers to 1-2 and the Vikings to the dreaded 0-3. (Cousins to the Jets, anyone?)

70 BURGER

The Dolphins offense is INSANE. They've put up 70 points on Sean Payton and the Broncos. Everyone has been brilliant, but especially running backs Raheem Mostert and Devon Achane. Together, they've racked up 375 total yards and EIGHT (yes, eight) touchdowns. No one wants to play Miami right now.

DOLPHINS SCORE 70

What the Dolphins are doing is insane. They have scored 70 -- yes 70 points -- against the Broncos. They have the third-most points in any game in NFL history and the fifth-most total yards in any game in NFL history.

Wild TD catch

Chargers-Vikings has had it all. A touchdown pass from a wide receiver. Justin Jefferson brilliance. And now this tipped pass that landed into the hands of Joshua Palmer as he fell back into the end zone to put the Chargers ahead.

Packers come all the way back!

For three quarters, the Packers looked dead. But trailing, 17-0, in the fourth, Jordan Love and the offense came alive. There was a field goal with 11 minutes left. Then a one-yard rush from Jordan Love, along with a two-point conversation, with seven minutes to go. And with just under 2:56 to play, Love's eight-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs tied the game at 17. With the ensuing extra point, Green Bay is ahead.

Minshew goes full Dan Orlovsky

Oh no, Gardner Minshew. With the Colts backed up at their 1-yard line, Minshew was completely unaware as he stepped out of the back of the end zone while getting ready to attempt a pass. That's a safety and a three-point lead for the Ravens. But don't worry, Gardner: it still wasn't worse than Orlovsky's mishap back in 2008.

Bills pouring it on

Sam Howell will want to forget this game as soon as possible. Just check out these stats: 15-for-24 (60.9%), 119 yards, 34.1 passer rating, five sacks, zero touchdowns and FOUR interceptions. The latest one went for a touchdown on an insanely athletic play from A.J. Epenesa.

Keenan Allen --> Mike Williams

Mike Williams scored his first TD of the season Sunday, but it didn't come from Justin Herbert. Instead, Keenan Allen snagged a swing pass from Herbert several yards behind the line of scrimmage, set his feet, and delivered a leisurely on-target toss to the wide open Williams. He did the rest to score from 49 yards out.

FULLBACK KICK RETURN TD!

Yes, this deserves all caps. The Jaguars decided to squib kick after a field goal cut their deficit to seven, and while they executed it in theory ... it ended up backfiring spectacularly. Instead of me describing the play, you can watch it for yourself. Just know that the 85-yard kickoff return touchdown, which put the Texans up 14 points, came from 6-foot-3, 255-pound Andrew Beck! Simply unbelievable.

Lamar scrambles for the score

The Ravens are in a dog fight against the Colts in Baltimore. Luckily, they have Lamar Jackson. And when they've needed a big play near the goal line, their dual-threat savant has delivered. His 10-yard score on a draw play, plus the ensuing extra point, put the home team ahead.

Ford finds the end zone again

Jerome Ford is filling in nicely for Nick Chubb on Sunday against the Titans. He's got 56 yards from scrimmage and two TDs as the Browns are in control.

Hat trick for Sam Howell

No, I'm not talking about touchdowns. The Commanders second-year QB has thrown three interceptions and orchestrated zero scoring drives midway through the third quarter. However, it's still just a two-possession game with the Bills leading 16-0.

Derek Carr ruled out with shoulder injury, Jameis Winston in at QB

On the verge of going 3-0 to start the 2023 season, the Saints are now holding their breath regarding the health of their starting quarterback. Derek Carr was injured early in the third quarter after getting sacked by Rashan Gary, which resulted in trainers coming out to examine him. Carr did walk to the sidelines under his own power, but he immediately went into the medical tent and eventually walked into the locker room to get X-rays on his shoulder, according to Fox sideline reporter Shannon Spake. Shortly after, the Saints announced that Carr was questionable to return. He has since been ruled out.

Veteran Jameis Winston is now in the game at quarterback for New Orleans.

2nd TD for Mostert

The Dolphins are something else. Raheem Mostert has two TDs in the first half as the Dolphins have put up 35 points without Jaylen Waddle. This team has so much firepower. Rookie Devon Achene has a rushing and receiving TD and Tua has a perfect passer rating.

Oh my Olave

It's been all Saints in the first half, and Chris Olave is a big reason why. He's got four catches for 51 yards, including this spectacular one-handed snag down the right sideline that set up New Orleans with a field goal to go up 17-0.

Refs cost the Browns a TD

Not only did Deshaun Watson and Amari Cooper connect on an unbelievable pitch-and-catch, but the play should have resulted in a 65-yard touchdown. Instead, the referee staring DIRECTLY at the play called Cooper out of bounds when upon replay, he clearly kept his feet in bounds. Extremely tough break the Browns, who ended up settling for a field goal. On the bright side, they dominated in the first half, but we'll see if that big mistake by the official comes back to cost them.

John Harbaugh outsmarts Shane Steichen

The Colts thought they had the Ravens in a bind on 4th-and-goal from the seven-yard line. With the play clock winding down, Indianapolis switched out its field goal team for the offense, seemingly allowing it to run a play against the field goal defense. What Steichen must not have realized was that the man he was playing against in entering his 16th season as an NFL head coach. John Harbaugh knew that because the other team subbed, the Ravens had a chance to sub as well. So, he had one of his players walk out onto the field slowly so that the Colts couldn't get the play off in time. After the delay of game, they opted for a field goal to go up 10-7, but Baltimore won that chess match.
