What to Know

The Kansas City Chiefs need to shore up a defense that is allowing 32.6 points per game before their contest Sunday. They will square off against the Washington Football Team at 1 p.m. ET at FedEx Field. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'

The Chiefs suffered a bitter loss last week, failing to capitalize on an early lead against the Buffalo Bills. Kansas City took a 38-20 bruising from Buffalo. No one had a standout game offensively for Kansas City, but they got scores from WR Byron Pringle and TE Travis Kelce.

Meanwhile, Washington came up short against the New Orleans Saints last week, falling 33-22. One thing holding Washington back was the mediocre play of QB Taylor Heinicke, who did not have his best game: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw two interceptions with a passing completion percentage of only 48.78%.

Special teams collected ten points for Washington. K Dustin Hopkins delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

The Chiefs are the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 1-4 against the spread when favored.

The losses bumped both teams down to an identical 2-3. Kansas City is 1-1 after losses this season, Washington 2-0.
