New York Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot hasn’t seen any time this postseason while backing up Henrik Lundqvist, but he does have a new mask just in case he is called upon.

The 27-year-old second-stringer had a great season when needed this year, but one of the things he is best known for is his Ghostbusters-themed masks. The masks, as well as his performance between the pipes, have earned him the affectionate nickname “The Goalbuster.”

Designed by Talbot’s regular mask painter, the innovative David Gunnarsson, Talbot’s mask once again includes the memorable character Slimer, who has appeared in various degrees of prominence on the netminder’s headgear for years now.

Gunnarsson has made other glow-in-the-dark masks before, most notably Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop’s Tron-themed mask. On Talbot’s Slimer’s eyes and teeth make for a menacing visual, with the Ghostbusters logo also glowing.

Talbot’s other masks have included various Ghostbusters characters like Peter Venkman (as played by actor Bill Murray, who actually signed the mask eventually), Zuul, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (obviously), and sometimes a little bit of everything.

Even if Talbot doesn’t manage to play in the playoffs, you kind of have to go big with the mask. Adding a little glow-in-the-dark element sure seems to fit the bill.
