The Dallas Stars are probably pretty happy the Boston Bruins didn’t see how Tyler Seguin fit into their future plans. The gifted young center has been terrific for the Stars this season and had one of the best nights of his career Thursday in Calgary.

Seguin scored four times and added an assist for a five-point night in Dallas’ 7-3 drubbing of the Flames. Now with 22 points on the young season, Seguin is fifth in the NHL, just two points behind leaders Alexander Steen and Sidney Crosby.

The 21-year-old may be playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder with how things ended in Boston, but the Bruins would not have used Seguin the way Dallas is right now.

He and Jamie Benn, who had six points Thursday night, have seemingly clicked on Dallas’ top line. Seguin is getting an opportunity to be the focal point of the offense and it’s paying off huge for the Stars early.
