  • Devils' Taylor Hall: More pressure to make big splash

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/16/17) Hall knows he must elevate his game during his second year with the Devils this season, NHL.com reports.

With veteran center Travis Zajac (pectoral) out until mid-December, all eyes are on Hall to step up. Last season, the fiery scoring winger compiled 20 goals and 33 assists, which represented a 12-point drop compared to the previous season with the Oilers -- yet, to be fair, he missed 10 games largely due to a November knee injury. Hall is only 25 years old, but he's making a cool $6 million per year on the carryover contract from Edmonton. Health permitting, look for him to have an easy time eclipsing 200 shots this season, and he'll assuredly reprise his role with the No. 1 power-play unit.

Devils' Taylor Hall: Lights lamp for 20th time

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/6/17) Hall scored a power-play goal among four shots Thursday, adding two PIM in a loss to the Penguins.

The tally was his 20th of the year, marking his fifth time hitting that plateau. It's been a disappointing, injury-shortened campaign for Hall, although he's recorded his third-highest point total in seven seasons (54). He's still one of the league's most talented players, so if Hall can stay healthy and the Devils can get him some help, he'll have point-per-game upside next year.

Devils' Taylor Hall: Caps win with two goals

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/16/17) Hall scored a pair of goals -- one into an empty net -- in the third period of Thursday's win over the Flyers.

His first tally, 1:33 into the frame, made Flyers goalie Steve Mason stretch so far that he had to leave the game with "cramps." Hall has hit the scoresheet in three straight games, lifting his point total to 46 over 59 contests. Hall's injury absences will probably keep him from hitting the 60-point mark, but when he's been in the lineup, his point-gathering pace has been essentially unchanged from last year.

Devils' Taylor Hall: Sends one behind tender Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/10/17) Hall found twine on a game-high four shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Avalanche.

Hall was scoreless in seven straight games before crashing the net on a rebound less than a minute into the third period. Traded from Edmonton for defenseman Adam Larsson in the offseason, the first overall pick of 2010 has lit the lamp 15 times in his first year with New Jersey, making it highly unlikely that he matches the 26 he buried with the Oilers in 2015-16. A career-low shooting percentage (8.2) is largely to blame, though he's replicated his 12 power-play points from last year in 25 fewer games.

Devils' Taylor Hall: Registers three-point night versus Islanders

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/19/17) Hall posted a goal, two assists and five shots in a 6-4 loss to the Islanders on Sunday. Two of his three points came on the man advantage.

The 14 goals and 40 points that Hall has posted in his first season with the Devils might not seem like much, but he actually has a higher points per 60 minutes average this season than last (2.48 versus 2.52). And although he isn't getting as many shots to the net, Hall has recorded five shots or more in four of his eight games this month. He could produce a little bit more on the power play, but Sunday was a good start.
