Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians reiterated his interest in the Cleveland Browns coaching position on Sunday, after originally expressing an affinity for that job a few weeks ago. Arians, 66, is in his first season as a game analyst on CBS after a long and distinguished coaching career at the college and pro level.

"I've always wanted that job," Arians said, "and I got passed over for it a couple of times, and it would be the only job I would listen to and come out of retirement for. I really enjoy what I'm doing, but there has always been something about Cleveland and the fans, and when I called the games this year that really came back for me."

Arians said he has no interest in any other job possibilities, and that his season in the booth calling games on CBS has rekindled his deep feelings about the Browns. The emergence of quarterback Baker Mayfield, the first-overall pick in the 2018 draft, and a premier nucleus of players has made the Browns job one of the most intriguing options for potential head coaches. The team fired Hue Jackson three weeks ago and has been playing well for interim head coach Gregg Williams, who general manager John Dorsey sad will interview for the full-time position. One of Arians' former assistants from Arizona, Freddie Kitchens, took over as Browns offensive coordinator and play caller after Jackson's firing and has bene shining in that role.

"It's always been there," Arians said of his feelings for the Browns, "and obviously they do have some really good young talent there. But it's the fans, the organization, the history of the Browns, and what it would be like to be a winner there. The fans really deserve a winner."

Arians has been around the Browns this season for his CBS duties and spent time around some of their officials. But Arians said he has not directly expressed his interest in their head coaching opening with any of them, and has not been asked by them about it.

"Not at all," Arians said. "I was out at practice with Mr. Haslam, and nothing was said, really … I have not talked to anybody official there about it, no. But it's a great franchise, and it's piqued my interest."
