The USBWA announced its midseason list for the Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year award on Friday afternoon.
The Wayman Tisdale award is selected annually by the United States Basketball Writers Association and given to the best freshman in the country. The award will be announced in March, and handed out in April in Oklahoma City.

- Tyler Ennis, Syracuse
- Aaron Gordon, Arizona
- Jordan Mickey, LSU
- Jabari Parker, Duke
- Julius Randle, Kentucky
- Noah Vonleh, Indiana
- Andrew Wiggins, Kansas
- James Young, Kentucky
Personally, this the same group of nine players I would have selected for the midseason watch list. The favorites right now would likely be Parker and Ennis, although Embiid's play over the last couple of weeks has thrown him into the mix.
