Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde will miss at least the first three games of the regular season thanks to a suspension. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer announced the suspension in a release on Tuesday night.
“Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university," said Meyer. "He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game.”
The release did not give any information as to what those additional obligations would be.
Earlier in the day it was learned that Hyde would not face criminal charges related to an alleged assault at a Columbus night club. Hyde had been accused of assaulting a woman in the club on the night of July 20.
Ohio State's first three games of the season include home games against Buffalo and San Diego State, as well as a road game against Cal. Should Hyde's suspension last longer than three games, Ohio State has a home game against Florida A&M before hosting Wisconsin in late September to open Big Ten play.
