The 15th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish could encounter a tricky test when they visit Death Valley on Saturday to face the Clemson Tigers in a college football Week 10 matchup. The Irish (7-2) have lost to two ranked teams but come in off consecutive victories. The Tigers (4-4, 2-4 ACC) have lost two in a row but pushed No. 4 Florida State to overtime earlier in the season. These teams faced off in the 2018 Cotton Bowl national semifinal, as well as the 2020 ACC title game. Clemson won both games, but the Irish beat the Tigers 35-14 in South Bend last year.

Opponents are averaging 267 total yards, sixth-fewest in FBS, and 21 points (39th). T.J. Parker leads the team with four sacks, and Xavier Thomas, who has two in six games, is a force when he's on the field. Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has 1.5 sacks, one interception and two forced fumbles, while leading the team with 54 tackles.

Clemson is waiting to see if running back Will Shipley can return from a concussion, but Phil Mafah is also a playmaker. Shipley has 635 total yards and five touchdowns, but Mafah is averaging 6 yards per carry, rushing for 439 and six TDs. Cade Klubnik can manage the game at quarterback and has plenty of weapons.
