Cardinals' Sean Gilmartin: Designated for assignment

Gilmartin was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Friday.

Gilmartin was picked up by St. Louis on June 11 after getting DFA'd by the Mets, and now faces the same situation less than three months later. The left-hander hasn't had any opportunities on the mound for the Cardinals, but had posted a 5.73 ERA during 11 innings with Triple-A Memphis over the last couple months.
