The Rangers granted Dahl his unconditional release Wednesday.

Texas dropped Dahl from its 40-man roster and exposed him to waivers, but none of MLB's other 29 teams were willing to scoop up the outfielder and assume the money remaining on his one-year, $2.7 million deal. Once a touted prospect in the Colorado system, Dahl has endured numerous injuries over the past few seasons that have stunted his development and sent his career on a downward trajectory. Even when he was healthy enough to play this season, the 27-year-old outfielder struggled mightily at the plate, slashing .210/.247/.322 with a 26.8 percent strikeout rate over 220 plate appearances. He's now free to look for a new opportunity with another organization.
