Freeman's contract was selected from Triple-A Columbus.
Freeman posted a 1.007 OPS with three home runs through nine games in Columbus and will provide additional middle-infield depth with Francisco Lindor (ankle) still on the mend. Eric Stamets was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Freeman will start at shortstop and bat ninth Friday at Seattle.
