Phillies' Jorge Alfaro: Set to continue on as primary option

Alfaro will continue to receive the majority of the playing time behind the plate over the remainder of the season, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Andrew Knapp (hand) was activated Tuesday and manager Pete Mackanin now has three catching options at his disposal, but the Phillies will give Alfaro most of the reps as they evaluate for 2018. Alfaro is hitting .324 in 73 plate appearances with the big club, but he's been fortunate with a .455 BABIP. His 30.1 percent strikeout rate hints at the possibility of significant regression over the final few weeks.
