Cruz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
After going 5-for-21 while starting in each of the Rays' last five games, Cruz will get a breather as the Rays and Mariners conclude their series with a matinee contest. Austin Meadows will replace Cruz as Tampa Bay's designated hitter.
