Swihart will get some work in left field during his stint at Triple-A Pawtucket, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

The young catcher was optioned down to Triple-A earlier Friday after getting off to a slow start with the big league club. While the activation of fellow catching prospect Christian Vasquez in a corresponding move Friday set off some alarms with fantasy players and Red Sox fans alike, manager John Farrell emphasized that both Vasquez and Swihart will "coexist" on the big league roster in due time. Swihart will serve as the primary catcher down at Triple-A, but he'll also have the ability to get extra work in the outfield that he wouldn't otherwise have in Boston, which should give him some positional versatility down the line.
