Lin was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Brock Holt (scratched cornea) and Dustin Pedroia (knee) are both on the injured list, so Lin will serve as Boston's utility infielder while Eduardo Nunez gets starts at second base in the short term.
