Blewett was released by the Royals on Friday.
Blewett was outrighted off the 40-man roster and opted for free agency rather than remaining in the organization. The right-hander appeared in three games for the Royals this season and spent most of the year at Triple-A Omaha, where he posted a 6.39 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 64:31 K:BB over 69 innings.
