Tigers' Domonic Ficociello: Embraces super-utility role

Ficociello said he wants to be known as a player who can play multiple positions, the Detroit News reports.

Ficociello was compared to Ben Zobrist, though it's obviously too early to know whether he'll hit like Zobrist at the MLB level. Ficociello will likely start the season at Triple-A Toledo, and he could play either corner infield or outfield spot, as well as second base in a pinch. "Wherever they need me to fill in at a spot, I can do it," Ficociello said. "Not just first base. Third base, left field, right field, second base -- in an emergency situation -- I could do that type of thing. It's a role I can see myself taking on."
