Read agreed with the White Sox on a minor-league contract earlier in February, Chris Hilburn-Trinkle of Baseball America reports.

Read will be moving on to the third organization of his career after stints with Washington and Minnesota since he entered the professional ranks in 2011. The 28-year-old's lone big-league action came with the Nationals in the 2017 and 2019 seasons, with Read logging just 22 plate appearances between those years. He's expected to settle with Triple-A Charlotte to begin the 2022 campaign.
