Miller (1-2) allowed a hit and struck out two over one scoreless inning to earn the win over the Rangers on Saturday. Starter Spencer Howard came up one out shy of qualifying for the win. That left the decision to Miller, who got the last out of the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to contribute his part of 4.1 scoreless innings by the Giants' bullpen. Miller is on a 6.1-inning scoreless streak and has pitched to a 3.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 38:15 K:BB with 10 holds and two blown saves through 30 innings this season. He's also opened four games and continues to operate in whatever role is needed of him from game to game.... See More ... See Less

Giants' Erik Miller: Tapped to open again
Miller will be the Giants' opening pitcher in Monday's game in Arizona, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. It's the fourth such assignment for Miller, who has yielded one run with a 6:3 K:BB over 3.2 innings covering his first three appearances as an opener this season. Spencer Howard is expected to follow Miller in bulk relief.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Erik Miller: Tosses scoreless frame
Miller threw a scoreless first inning as Tuesday's opener against the Phillies. He did not allow a hit but did walk a batter and struck out two. Miller worked around a walk to fire a scoreless opening inning before handing the ball over to Taylor Rogers in the second frame. He's now worked as an opener on three occasions this season but has appeared 27 times. The 26-year-old owns a 4.21 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 33:15 K:BB in 25.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Erik Miller: Opening Tuesday's game
Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Miller was unavailable to pitch over the weekend due to a calf injury, but he appears to be fine now. He'll likely work an inning or two Tuesday before turning the game over the bullpen. Baggarly notes that the Giants have discussed recalling Spencer Howard from Triple-A Sacramento to serve as a bulk reliever Tuesday, though the team has yet to make any roster moves as of yet.... Giants' Erik Miller: Serving as opener Thursday
Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Mason Black had been lined up to start Thursday, but he could be deployed as a bulk reliever in the series finale once Miller exits the contest. Miller has been used as an opener once previously this season, throwing a scoreless inning in Boston back on May 1.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Erik Miller: Serving as opener Wednesday
Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 26-year-old rookie will be making his first big-league start. Miller hasn't recorded more than four outs in any of his 13 relief appearances this season, so he's unlikely to cover more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. Right-hander Daulton Jefferies was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to serve as the Giants' primary pitcher out of the bullpen once Miller exits the contest.... Giants' Erik Miller: Handed first loss
Miller (0-1) took the loss Sunday versus the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out one and walking none over one inning. Miller's five-inning scoreless streak came to an end Sunday, though it wasn't all his fault. He struggled initially this season, but has since gotten back on track and earned two holds over his last three appearances. Miller has a 5.73 ERA, but his 0.91 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB over 11 innings suggest the southpaw's luck should even out over time as he gets more comfortable in the majors.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Erik Miller: Recalled from Triple-A
The Giants recalled Miller from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Miller was optioned a couple weeks ago but ended up winning a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The left-hander will be making his major-league debut whenever he gets into a game.... See More ... Giants' Erik Miller: Optioned to Triple-A
Miller was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento by the Giants on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Miller had a shot at a bullpen job with the Giants but is being sent out after permitting one run over just three innings this spring. The 26-year-old has a good chance to debut at some point with the big club in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Erik Miller: Selected to 40-man roster
The Giants added Miller to their 40-man roster Tuesday. Miller put together a solid season in 2023, logging a 2.45 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 62.1 frames between Double-A and Triple-A. He's now protected from being selected in next month's Rule 5 Draft, and a strong spring from Miller could lead to a spot in the Giants' Opening Day bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Erik Miller: Dealt to San Fran
The Giants acquired Miller from the Phillies on Monday in exchange for right-hander Yunior Marte. Marte was deemed an expendable bullpen arm after the Giants added another reliever (Luke Jackson) in free agency Monday, so the front office opted to swap him out in favor of more of a developmental option in Miller, a 24-year-old lefty. Though he struggled in his initial exposure to the Triple-A level in 2022 (7.50 ERA, 2.33 WHIP in 12 innings with Lehigh Valley), Miller impressed at Double-A Reading prior to earning the call-up to the International League. Over his 22 outings (seven starts) at Reading spanning 36.1 innings, Miller posted a 2.23 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB.... See More ... See Less
