Bristo cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday. Bristo was designated for assignment by Detroit last weekend but will stick in the organization after he passed through waivers unclaimed. The right-hander has spent most of the year with Toledo and has a 7.64 ERA across 17.2 innings.... See More ... See Less

Tigers' Braden Bristo: Cast off 40-man roster
Bristo was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Sunday. Bristo served as the 27th man for the Tigers' doubleheader against Atlanta on Wednesday but will lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Detroit acquired Blair Calvo from Colorado on Sunday. If Bristo goes unclaimed on waivers, it wouldn't be surprising to see him remain at Triple-A Toledo.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Braden Bristo: Returns to minors
The Tigers returned Bristo to Triple-A Toledo following Wednesday's doubleheader against Atlanta. Bristo was promoted to serve as Detroit's 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader and allowed two runs across two innings during Game 1. The 28-year-old reliever holds an 8.77 ERA and 1.75 WHIP across 25.2 innings in Triple-A, making it unlikely he returns to the majors until he shows drastic improvement.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Braden Bristo: Joins parent club for doubleheader
The Tigers called Bristo up from Triple-A Toledo to serve as their 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with Atlanta. Bristo will give Detroit a multi-inning option out of the bullpen for the twin bill before he heads back to Toledo on Thursday. The right-hander has an unblemished ERA at the big-league level across five innings in two appearances between the Tigers and Rays, but he had been far less impressive at Toledo (8.10 ERA, 1.79 WHIP in 16.2 innings).... Tigers' Braden Bristo: Scooped up by Detroit
The Tigers claimed Bristo off waivers from the Rays on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The Rays designated Bristo for assignment over the weekend and he has now latched onto another organization. Bristo, 28, tossed three scoreless relief innings for Tampa Bay in his major-league debut last month. He'll likely report to Triple-A Toledo to begin his tenure with his new organization.... Rays' Braden Bristo: Designated for assignment
Bristo was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday. This move frees up a 40-man roster spot for reliever Javy Guerra, who has been acquired via trade from the Brewers. Bristo earned a three-inning save in his MLB debut earlier this month with Tampa Bay, but that remains the 28-year-old right-hander's only career appearance in the bigs.... See More ... See Less -
Rays' Braden Bristo: Earns save in debut
Bristo struck out four and walked one over three hitless innings Thursday, earning a save in a 9-3 victory over the Red Sox. While Bristo shouldn't be expected to receive many three-inning save opportunities, it was quite a debut for the 28-year-old right-hander. Despite the impressive performance, Bristo likely won't serve more than an occasional long-relief role in Tampa Bay. He posted a 4.56 ERA in 53.1 innings last season with Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre before signing a minor-league deal with the Rays in January.... See More ... See Less

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery2D agoSome takeaways after combing through DRS and FRV numbers for the Tigers. One thing we haven't talked about a lot: Both systems love the Tigers' catchers, especially Carson Kelly (+4 DRS, +3 FRV), who is among the top-rated backstops in baseball. https://t.co/UuDJzd2bY4
