The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Adon made a spot start Tuesday in San Francisco in place of Josiah Gray's (elbow), allowing one run over four innings. With Adon being sent down, the Nationals will need a starter early next week against the Dodgers.... See More ... See Less

Nationals' Joan Adon: Decent in 2024 debut
Adon didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over four innings against San Francisco. He struck out two. Adon was called up to fill Josiah Gray's (elbow) spot in the Nationals' rotation after Gray was moved to the 15-day injured list. Adon's only run allowed came in the third inning when Patrick Bailey plated Thairo Estrada on a sacrifice fly. While Adon didn't blow the Giants out of the water, one run over four innings is likely enough to earn him another start. However, with Adon not fully stretched out -- 72 pitches Tuesday -- and given his 6.71 ERA as a starter before this season, he'll be tough to trust in fantasy during his time in the rotation. Adon's next start is tentatively scheduled to come Monday against the Dodgers.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Middling in no-decision
Adon did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over four innings in a 5-3 loss against Atlanta. He struck out five. Adon turned in another brief start, failing to go more than five innings for a sixth consecutive outing while yielding three runs. Over that stretch (27.2 innings), Adon posted a 7.48 ERA and 28:18 K:BB with an 0-4 record.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Coughs up five runs
Adon (2-3) allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks over five-plus innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Nationals. Adon looked strong through four scoreless frames before Luis Robert drilled a three-run shot in the fifth inning. Adon was then charged with two more runs in the sixth. He's been tagged with 16 runs over his last four starts, registering a brutal 7.58 ERA during that stretch. He's lost three straight decisions and owns a 6.28 ERA on the year. Adon is currently lined up to face Atlanta at home this weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Surrenders five runs in loss
Adon (2-1) took the loss against Miami on Thursday, allowing five runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings. Adon struggled from the start, giving up a hit to each of the first two batters he faced in the contest. The right-hander didn't post any clean innings but hung in until the fifth, when a Jazz Chisholm three-run blast put the Marlins ahead 5-0. That was more than enough to tag Adon with his first loss of the year in a game during which Washington managed just one run. The Dominican hurler looks to be set for a rotation spot over the final month of the campaign, but his 5.90 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB over 29 innings on the season don't portend fantasy relevance in most formats.... Nationals' Joan Adon: Goes six scoreless in Miami
Adon (2-0) picked up the win Friday, yielding two hits and no walks over six shutout innings in a 7-4 victory over the Marlins. He struck out three. Adon carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Jazz Chisholm hit a single up the middle. The Marlins added an additional single in the frame, but Adon escaped unscathed by getting Josh Bell swinging. The biggest number of the night for Adon was the zero free passes, as the 25-year-old has struggled with his control in his career. This was his six appearance and fourth start for the Nationals this season and he's expected to remain in their rotation the rest of the way. Outings like the one he put up Friday in Miami figure to be atypical, however.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Dealing with leg cramps
Adon was removed from Friday's start against the Athletics because of cramping in both legs, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. It's unfortunate timing as Adon was making his second start since joining the Nationals' rotation, but it sounds like he should be able to take his next turn. The right-hander was charged with two runs on two hits and two walks before being pulled.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Exits with undisclosed injury
Adon was removed from Friday's start against the Athletics with an undisclosed injury, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. It's not clear what happened with the right-hander, but he was examined after warming up prior to the fourth inning before walking off the field and into the clubhouse. Adon allowed two runs on two hits and two walks before departing. He recorded three strikeouts.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Officially joining rotation
Nationals manager Dave Martinez confirmed Wednesday that Adon will have a permanent spot in the rotation down the stretch, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports. Washington is going to roll with a six-man rotation the rest of the way -- or at least attempt to -- in order to manage the workloads of young starters MacKenzie Gore, Josiah Gray and Jake Irvin. Adon looked sharp in his first start of the season last Saturday versus the Reds, tallying seven strikeouts with no walks over six innings. He was charged with three earned runs in the final frame after retiring the first 17 batters he faced. Adon will tentatively line up to make his next start either Friday or Saturday versus the Athletics.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Will remain with Nationals
Manager Dave Martinez told Andrew Golden of The Washington Post said after Saturday's victory over the Reds, in which Adon retired the first 17 batters he faced and picked up the win, that the pitcher will remain with the Nationals moving forward. Adon started Saturday and wound up allowing three earned runs over six innings, but he also gave up just three hits and posted a 7:0 K:BB, and that was good enough to keep him with the big club for the time being. It remains to be seen, though, if the 24-year-old will start next time through the rotation or shift to the bullpen when Trevor Williams returns from the bereavement list.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Called up for Saturday's start
Adon was recalled from Triple-A Rochester ahead of his start against the Reds on Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. The 24-year-old is making a spot start Saturday with Trevor Williams (personal) on the bereavement list. Adon had a 7.10 ERA over 64.2 innings for the Nationals last season but has spent most of 2023 at Rochester, where he has a 4.62 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 80:40 K:BB in 17 starts.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Sent to Triple-A
Adon was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. After being called up July 7, Adon will return to Triple-A, having allowed three runs on three hits, including two homers, over two appearances with the Nationals while a member of the major-league bullpen. Patrick Corbin was activated from the paternity list Monday and will replace Adon on Washington's roster.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Will be 27th man against Mets
Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Adon will be called up from Triple-A Rochester to serve as the club's 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Since the doubleheader Sunday includes the resumption of Saturday's suspended game, Adon won't be eligible to pitch until the second game of the day, which will be a traditional nine-inning contest. He'll provide some length out of the bullpen for the second contest behind starter Jake Irvin.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Sent to Triple-A
The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports. Adon posted a dreadful 7.10 ERA over 14 starts for the Nationals last season and wasn't viewed as a serious candidate for the Opening Day rotation. The right-hander has displayed plenty of bat-missing ability on the farm but still needs to fine-tune some things before getting another look in the majors.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Dispatched to Triple-A
The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday. Adon will head back to the minors after he picked up his MLB-leading 12th loss of the season Thursday, when he was charged with four earned runs on six hits and three walks over four innings against the Phillies. The Nationals activated reliever Hunter Harvey (forearm) from the 60-day injured list to take over Adon's spot on the 26-man active roster, but the team will still need to find a pitcher to replace Adon in the rotation when his next turn comes up in Saturday's game versus Atlanta.... Nationals' Joan Adon: Picks up another loss
Adon (1-12) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over four innings against the Phillies. He struck out five. Adon was recalled from Triple-A Rochester ahead of Thursday's game and made his second start at the MLB level since June 7. However, the rookie right-hander continues to struggle and has allowed at least four runs in three consecutive starts. Across 64.2 innings in the majors, Adon sports a 7.10 ERA with a 55:39 K:BB.... Nationals' Joan Adon: Called up for Thursday's start
Adon was recalled from Triple-A Rochester and will start Thursday against the Phillies. Adon was previously announced as the starter for Thursday's contest, and he's now officially been added to the big-league roster. The rookie right-hander was demoted in early June but returned quickly for a spot start June 17, and he gave up four runs across five innings versus Philadelphia. Overall this year Adon has a 6.97 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 50:36 K:BB over 60.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Slated to start Thursday
Adon will be called up from Triple-A Rochester to start Thursday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Adon was sent to the minors June 21 and allowed an unearned run while striking out three in five innings a day later. However, he hasn't pitched since then due to a planned break, so he should be fully rested when he takes the mound Thursday. The right-hander has posted a 6.97 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 60.2 innings over 13 major-league starts this year.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Joan Adon: Sent back to Triple-A
The Nationals optioned Adon to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday. Adon was returned to the minors one day after he was summoned from Rochester to make a spot start during the Nationals' doubleheader Friday with the Phillies. Though he tied his season high with six strikeouts in the outing, he gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk and was dealt his league-high 11th loss. Adon will now make regular turns in the Triple-A rotation with the Nationals having settled on Paolo Espino and Jackson Tetreault as the back-end options in its rotation until at least one of Stephen Strasburg (ribs) or Anibal Sanchez (neck) returns from the injured list.... Nationals' Joan Adon: Knocked around in return to majors
Adon (1-11) took the loss in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Phillies, giving up four runs on seven hits across five innings. He struck out six batters and walked one. Adon's strikeout total matched his season high, but that was about the only positive he can take from another unimpressive outing. The Phillies got to him early, with Nick Castellanos doubling in the top of the first inning and two more runs coming around in the third. The outing raised Adon's ERA slightly to 6.97, which doesn't make a good case for him sticking around after the doubleheader.... See More ... See Less

Lot to be proud of for Davey and his staff. Being disappointed you didn’t get both of those games is a sign things are turning for this Nats team.
