Pennel signed a one-year contract with the Bears on Thursday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Pennel has spent time with the Packers, Jets and Chiefs since being drafted in 2014. He recorded 29 tackles (13 solo) in 14 games last year in Kansas City. The veteran figures to help boost the depth on the Bears' defensive line.
