The Patriots waived Froholdt on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Froholdt was let go in order to make room for Sony Michel to rejoin the active roster from IR. The 24-year-old Froholdt will be a prime candidate to land on the Patriots' practice squad, assuming he does not get claimed off waivers.
