Lewis (head) officially announced retirement Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
After suffering a head injury during training camp, Lewis stepped away from the team and was subsequently placed on the reserve/left squad list last Thursday. In theory, he could attempt a comeback in 2022, but his 2021 campaign -- and his time with the Jets -- is finished.
