Rooney was reassigned to AHL Albany on Tuesday.
After being called up to provide added depth on an injury-ridden Devils team, the 26-year-old center will head back to the AHL. There wasn't much to see when he was up, though, as he averaged 10:07 of ice time over three games while firing one shot on net and recording a minus-2 rating.
