Ellis (lower body) was placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Sunday, according to Bill Meltzer of NHL.com.
As if dealing with a lower-body injury wasn't bad enough, Ellis is now also in the league's COVID-19 protocols -- which means his chances of returning to the ice before the end of the calendar year have essentially vanished. He's played just four games this season, a span in which he's racked up one goal and four assists.
