Barron was traded to Winnipeg on Monday as part of the Rangers' package for Andrew Copp, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Barron and Copp were the only players in the deal, with a few draft picks also involved. After playing center at Cornell, Barron has been used mostly as a fourth-line winger in his 18 games with the Rangers over the past two seasons. The 23-year-old forward was most recently playing in AHL Hartford, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Jets insert Barron into their bottom six after acquiring him.
