The Penguins claimed Friedman off waivers Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Pittsburgh's blue-line corps is still a bit banged up, so Friedman will offer some solid veteran depth on the back end. He's picked up one helper in 11 NHL appearances over the past three campaigns.
