Kinkaid was assigned to the active roster Monday, CapFriendly reports.
Kinkaid's promotion is likely just a paper move as the Rangers flipped him for Igor Shesterkin. The 31-year-old Kinkaid hasn't gotten into an NHL game yet and likely won't unless either Shesterkin or Alexander Georgiev picks up an injury.
