  • Wild's Jonas Brodin: Producing sparingly
    By RotoWire Staff

Brodin blocked one shot and received a minor penalty in Saturday's 1-0 win over Philadelphia. Brodin's averaged 20:44 of ice time in 2017-18 but has only recorded a single point. The 24-year-old has only thrown nine shots on goal, but with a plus-9 rating, Brodin should start recording secondary assists with more frequency after last year's 25-point effort (68 games).

  • Wild's Jonas Brodin: Logs one blocked shot
    By RotoWire Staff

Brodin came up pointless in Sunday's 5-1 preseason loss to Colorado. Brodin only registered a blocked shot during Sunday's bout, partially due to spending 6:15 killing penalties. After successfully notching a career-high 25 points during the 2016-17 campaign, the first-round pick will once again be a key piece for the Minnesota defense. If he cracks the power play, a 30-point season would be obtainable.

  • Wild's Jonas Brodin: Off limits to Golden Knights
    By RotoWire Staff

Brodin was protected by the Wild ahead of the expansion draft, the Star Tribune reports. Wild GM Chuck Fletcher found himself in the unenviable position of having to decide whether to expose Brodin or another burgeoning defenseman in Matt Dumba. Comparing the two head-to-head, it was Dumba with the better numbers in every major category except for blocked shots -- Brodin had 89 of those compared to 71 for Dumba, but not everything should be based off of one season, and it's easy to forget that Brodin finished fourth in the Calder Trophy race in 2013. The Swede has four years left on his contract, which is valued at $4.16 million annually.

  • Brodin is unlikely to be traded before the 3 p.m. EST roster freeze Saturday, TSN reports. TSN's own Bob McKenzie cautions that things can change in a hurry, but early indications point to Brodin staying put. The 23-year-old right defenseman comes with a rather hefty cap hit of $4.16 million per season, and he's signed through 2020-21. An emerging two-way player, Brodin registered three goals and 22 assists to complement a plus-5 rating over 68 games this year.

  • Wild's Jonas Brodin: Will be at Worlds
    By RotoWire Staff

Brodin will represent Team Sweden at the IIHF World Championship early next month, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports. The burgeoning defenseman enjoyed a career year offensively to the tune of three goals and 22 assists in 68 games for the Wild during the regular season. However, he was one of several skaters dressed in green to have struggled in the playoffs, posting a minus-3 rating with a lonely assist in five games before Minnesota was knocked out of the quarterfinal round by the Blues. The Wild have him under contract through 2020-21 at $4.16 million annually, and more international experience figures to help him polish his game.
