During this past week, Eye on Baseball took a look at some of baseball's worst contracts, subjectively. We would, however, be remiss if we let the week pass without lumping in the cases of Manny Ramirez and Bobby Bonilla.

Worst contract series

Not only is Ramirez banking $2 million from the Red Sox annually until he turns 54, but the Dodgers will pay the purveyor of Mannywood $8.33 million this coming season. Remember, Ramirez hasn't played for the Dodgers since Aug. 29, 2010.

How about some fun perspective here? Manny would be the fourth-highest paid member of the Royals in 2013. Only two A's are slated to make more next season while James Shields is the only member of the Rays with a higher 2013 salary. And the Houston Astros have zero players who will even come close to making $8.33 million next season.

As for Bonilla, it's even more wacky due to the length of the deal. Despite having not played baseball in the majors since 2001 and not for the Mets since he was a card-playing fool in the 1999 NLCS, Bonilla is on the Mets' payroll for quite a while.

Each July 1 from 2011 through 2035, the Mets are paying Bonilla almost $1.2 million. Yes, that's an annual salary.

But hey, Bonilla did rack up a whopping 7.4 WAR (baseball-reference.com version) in 515 games for the Mets, so he was surely worth every penny.
