Gibson allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven across five innings Tuesday against the Brewers. He did not factor into the decision. The Brewers had five batters reach base against Gibson in the opening frame, leading to their only two runs against him. Gibson was able to settle in afterward and even struck out the side in the fifth to finish his day on a strong note. His seven strikeouts were his most since he piled up 11 back on April 22 and he's now allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last six starts. The 35-year-old sports a 3.87 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 54:25 K:BB over 76.2 innings and is tentatively expected to take the mound next against the Royals over the weekend.... See More ... See Less

Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Notches seventh win
Gibson (7-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.2 innings against Cleveland. He struck out three. Gibson has now won three consecutive starts, allowing four runs over 19.2 innings in that span. The 35-year-old righty sports a 3.89 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 47:23 K:BB through seven starts (41.2 innings) this season. Gibson will look to extend his winning streak in his next outing, tentatively lined up for next week in Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Sleeper pitchers for Week 10 (May 29-June 4)
Though Kyle Gibson's upside is limited, he's coming off back to back starts against the Blue Jays and Yankees. He should have a much easier time this week against the Guardians, who rank dead last in runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Handles Yankees on Thursday
Gibson (6-3) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, pitching seven scoreless inning during which he allowed two hits and four walks while striking out three batters. Gibson didn't have his best control Thursday -- he threw just 56 of 96 pitches for a strike and walked a season-high four batters -- but he negated the impact of the wildness by allowing just a pair of singles. The right-hander notched his sixth quality start of the campaign, three of which have come over his past four outings. Gibson has worked as the ace for a thriving Orioles squad, posting six wins and a 3.82 ERA through 11 starts.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Sharp in fifth win
Gibson (5-3) picked up the win in Friday's 6-2 victory over the Blue Jays, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out five. The veteran right-hander finally got some run support, as incredibly the Orioles had been shut out in each of Gibson's first three starts in May. The quality start was his fifth of the year, and he'll take a 4.27 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB through 59 innings into his next outing, which is likely to come on the road next week in Yankee Stadium.... Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Suffers third straight loss
Gibson (4-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings during a 4-0 loss to Pittsburgh. He struck out five. Gibson struggled to find a rhythm Sunday and suffered his third straight loss. The right-hander has allowed at least four earned runs in four of his first nine starts with Baltimore and isn't striking enough batters out (36:16 K:BB over 52 innings). Gibson will look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for the opener of a three-game weekend set in Toronto.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Takes loss despite quality start
Gibson (4-2) took the loss Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings during a 3-0 defeat to the Rays. He struck out four. Despite notching his third quality start of the year, Gibson took his second loss, as Tampa Bay's pitching staff combined for a shutout. It was a solid bounce-back performance for the right-hander, who surrendered a season-high six runs last time out, and he currently sports a 4.40 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB through his first eight starts (47 innings). His next start is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus the Pirates.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Roughed up late in loss
Gibson (4-1) took the loss against Kansas City on Wednesday, allowing six runs on 10 hits and no walks over 6.2 innings. He did not record any strikeouts. Gibson's outing started well, as he gave up just one run over his first five frames. The Royals tagged him for another run in the sixth, but it was the seventh when things fell apart for the veteran right-hander. Gibson gave up four hits in that frame -- including a double and a triple -- and was charged with four runs by the time the inning was over. Meanwhile, the Orioles couldn't push over any runs against five KC pitchers, leading to Gibson's first loss of the campaign. The six runs and 10 hits he allowed Wednesday were both season-worst marks.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Sleeper pitchers for Week 6 (May 1-7)
The Tigers got to Kyle Gibson in his second consecutive start against them Thursday, which might give you some pause even with another favorable matchup coming up at Kansas City. But it's his first time facing the Royals this year, and his chances of a quality start are still better than not.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Lasts 4.1 innings against Tigers
Gibson did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Tigers. He struck out three. Gibson dominated Detroit with 11 punchouts and just one run allowed over 6.1 frames in his previous start, but the Tigers had much more success Thursday. The right-hander has been off to a strong start to 2023, owning a 4-0 record with a 3.93 ERA through six starts. However, fantasy managers should be hesitant to trust Gibson considering he has a 4.35 ERA and a 3.2 BB/9 over his last four seasons.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Sleeper pitchers for Week 5 (April 24-30)
What I wrote for Eric Lauer basically applies to Kyle Gibson, too, especially coming off an 11-strikeout effort against the Tigers, who he'll be facing again this week. There's something to be said for an innings-eater in this environment even if the big strikeout total is unlikely to be repeated.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Dominates with 11 strikeouts
Gibson (4-0) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over 6.1 innings against Detroit. He struck out 11. Gibson had 13 strikeouts in his first four starts of the season. He now has 24 punchouts in 30 innings. The 35-year-old was chased in the seventh inning after a Zach McKinstry solo home run, but that was the only significant issue for Gibson all game. The righty is lined up to face these same Tigers in his next start.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Sleeper pitchers for Week 4 (April 17-23)
We know the ceiling for Kyle Gibson is nothing special, but he's been a bastion of stability during a tumultuous time for starting pitchers. It's not likely to change against the Tigers lineup this week.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Falters slightly Saturday
Gibson did not factor in the decision Saturday versus the White Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout in 5.1 innings. It was Gibson's first start of the season that ended without a win. He threw 58 of 96 pitches for strikes, so he was a little less effective than usual. He's posted a 4.18 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB over 23.2 innings across his four starts this season. Gibson is projected for a home start versus the Tigers in his next outing.... See More ... Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Hot start continues
Gibson (3-0) earned the win Monday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 6.1 innings against the Athletics. He struck out four. Gibson settled down and worked into the seventh inning after giving up the first run of the contest on an RBI triple to right field in the first. He's worked deep in back-to-back outings, as he fired seven strong innings Tuesday against the Rangers. Gibson owns a 3.44 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with a 12:4 K:BB through his first three starts of 2023 (18.1 frames).... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Sleeper pitchers for Week 3 (April 10-16)
Given the pitching environment so far, we're desperate for anyone who can do what Kyle Gibson did last time out, going seven strong. He has a long enough track record that we know he's nothing special, but he's up for two starts, including one against the Athletics.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Seven strong frames in win
Gibson earned the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits and zero walks over seven innings against the Rangers. He struck out five. Gibson gave up two solo homers in the game to Adolis Garcia and Nathaniel Lowe, but outside of that it was a very strong outing for the veteran right-hander. He's now 2-0 on the season, but this was a much better effort than the one he had against the Red Sox on Opening Day. Gibson is scheduled for a friendly matchup against the Athletics on Monday.... Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Moved up to start Tuesday
Gibson will start Tuesday against the Rangers, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Scheduled starter Tyler Wells was needed in relief Monday, so Gibson will move up a day to take the ball on normal rest. The Orioles now have an opening in the rotation Wednesday, with long reliever Austin Voth representing the most likely option to fill that slot.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Might have start pushed up
Gibson could have his next start moved up a day to Tuesday versus the Rangers after scheduled starter Tyler Wells had to be used in relief Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Wells was thrust into duty after Kyle Bradish exited with a foot contusion. Gibson would be on normal rest Tuesday, so the easiest solution would be to push him up a day and then find another starter for Wednesday. The Orioles should announce their intentions soon.... Orioles' Kyle Gibson: Picks up Opening Day win
Gibson (1-0) picked up the win Thursday against Boston, allowing four earned runs off six hits and a walk while striking out three batters through five innings. Gibson left the game in the sixth with an 8-2 lead and two runners on base, but Keegan Akin allowed both to cross the plate in relief. While Gibson likely has good job security in the Orioles' rotation, his pitch-to-contact approach and 5.05 ERA from last season put a ceiling on his fantasy value for 2023.... See More ... See Less
